This book series is 100x better than twilight.
The movie that came sucked because it gave away so much and it added a monkey girl-wtf-
You should read it I had become addicted and got my friends hooked.

I read the manga version, art by Takahiro Arai. They added a few new things in there, but not too big. The art is actually really good because seems as if the book has an Japanese and American style of art. I've read three volumes already, I would recommend you give the manga a chance too. As for the actual book, I don't like the general style of reading since I get tired of producing images for the scenes in the book.

I read the manga too, It was also good. At the end of the book it gets a little confusing but it still leaves you asking for more.
The series in general was really awesome.
